Nydia Velázquez

Nydia Margarita Velázquez ( born March 28, 1953 in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico) is an American high school teacher, politician of the Democratic Party and, since 1993 member of the U.S. House of Representatives for New York.

Biography

After school, she studied first at the University of Puerto Rico at Rio Piedras Camous and graduated in 1974 with a Bachelor of Arts (BA). A subsequent post-graduate studies at New York University, she finished in 1976 with a Master of Arts.
