The spur formula is 0-2-4, epiphyses are present. On the fore wings the veins R2 to R4 are stalked. M1 springs on the front wing in the middle between R5 and M2. CuP is absent. On the hind wing is cross-connected M1 over a relatively long wire to the stalk of SC R1 RS. The frenulum consists of several bristles.

The proximal Valven are provided with a fairly strong Anellifer. The ductus bursae is moderately long and has no additional bag. The doubly trained Signum is greatly reduced, a Colliculum is available.

The caterpillars do not have tracheal gills.

Dissemination

The genus is distributed throughout the Palaearctic region, with the exception of North Africa.

Biology

Young caterpillars nate first in the leaves, later in the stems of host plants. Adult caterpillars live in a housing which is produced from plant parts.

System

The assignment of most of the species to the genus nymphula is uncertain, as there is not enough information about the preimaginal stages. Only known from Japan Art nymphula corculina is the genus with certainty be attributed.
