Nynäs Line

Nynäsbanan ( Swedish, German Nynäsbahn ) is the name of a Swedish railway line that runs from Älvsjö to Nynäshamn. The track belongs Trafikverket, the passenger on this route ordered Storstockholms Lokaltrafik (SL).

History

The Nynäsbahn was released on December 28, 1901 for traffic. Traffic was initially operated by the Company Stockholm- Nynäshamn Järnväg. Since 1 October 1909, the trains ran on the route of the Västra stambana to Stockholm Central Station ( Stockholm C). After the route of Statens Järnvägar (SJ ) was taken, it is operated electrically since 1 November 1962. In 1980 the line was equipped with the ATC system and since 1995 the route of Älvsjö to Västerhaninge is two-pronged. Between Västerhaninge and Nynäshamn the route is single track.

1901 was the travel time Älvsjö - hands 56 minutes. Until Nynäshamn it took 2 hours and 21 minutes. Today, the journey time Stockholm is C- hands 25 minutes and Stockholm C Nynäshamn 60 minutes.

On January 1, 1967 SL took over the responsibility for the rail transport within Stockholm County. SJ was still technically responsible for the car and the staff on the track before in 2000 Citypendeln won the bid and took over the business. Since 2006 Stockholmståg KB is responsible instead of Citypendeln.

The Nynäsbahn is mainly used by Stockholms Pendeltåg. Also ply the individual freight trains to Jordbro. The trains run every fifteen minutes during the day between Stockholm and Västerhaninge and every half hour in the days outskirts. Between Västerhaninge and Nynäshamn is a daytime half-hourly and evening and on weekends an hourly clock.

Between 2006 and 2012, the route was divided - travelers had Vasterhaninge the train go when they wanted to travel between Nynäshamn and Stockholm. Only two express trains daily drove the entire route throughout. The transfer was introduced because there were too many technical problems when previously required reconnecting the X60 trains. After solving these problems, the transition was initially retained to increase the timetable stability before the refraction was abandoned with the commissioning of the second track between Västerhaninge and Tungelsta.

Expansion plans

The plans for the doubling of the section Västerhaninge - Tungelsta were very lengthy. They were completed in summer 2009. In July 2010, the work started, which would last for about two years. Meanwhile, it is assumed that one end of the construction within the year 2013. The double-track section but has now put into operation on December 3, 2012.

From August to November 2011, the breakpoint Nynäsgård has been transformed into a junction station. In addition, the re-commissioning of the holding point Vega is planned. The studies to depend on the extension of a construction area in the municipality of Haninge.
