Nyskie Lake

The Jezioro Nyskie, also Jezioro Głębinowskie, Zbiornik Nysa ( Neisser reservoir) is located west of the city of Nysa ( Neisse ) in the Opole Voivodeship in Poland and is a reservoir of the Glatzer Neisse, which was completed in 1971. This water reservoir has now become important for the recreation of Nysaer population and tourism in addition to its purpose as flood control and flow regulation for inland navigation of the Oder.

Size and importance of the reservoir

The dam, which impounds the lake, is two kilometers long and 20 meters high. The water area covers 2000 acres with approximately 124 million cubic meters of water volume. Several settlements had to be relocated to damming the lake can. A hydroelectric power plant produces electricity.

Together with the Otmuchówer dam is the Nysa Reservoir, a newly designated conservation area (Polish: Otmuchowsko - Nyski Obszar Krajobrazu Chronionego ), where many bird species have their habitat.

Tourism

Today it is a popular destination for recreation and for tourists. The lake with its sandy beaches is also called Polish " Copacabana ". The area of the lake is 2077 hectares.

The Nysaer lake is also visited by boaters and anglers. Nearby is also the Jezioro Otmuchowskie ( Ottmachauer lake ), offering conditions analogous to how the Jezioro Nyskie.
