Nytva

Nytwa (Russian Нытва ) is a city in the Perm region (Russia) with 19,041 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The city is located in the foothills of the Middle Urals about 70 km west of the regional capital Perm river of the same Nytwa near its mouth in the Kama.

Nytwa is the administrative center of the homonymous Rajons.

The city is (only freight ) via a 37 km long branch line with the station Tschaikowskaja the Trans -Siberian Railway.

History

Nytwa was first mentioned in 1623; the name is in the Komi language for about river with marshy banks.

1756 the copper smelter Nytwenski Sawod was built by the Stroganov family to the purpose of the flow to an 8 -acre artificial lake ( " lake " ) was dammed. 1768 the cottage was converted to an iron factory, which first produced equipment and tools for the local river shipyard.

In the 1930s, was the reconstruction and expansion of the ironworks and in 1942 received the place under the present name of a town.

Culture and sights

The architectural ensemble of the iron works with manufacturing, administrative and residential buildings of the 19th century is partly preserved. Since 1958, Historical and Folk Museum exists.

Economy

The metallurgical plant in Nytwa manufactures bimetallic and stainless steel products. There are also companies in the wood processing ( plywood) and food industry and the construction industry.
