Nyumba ya Mungu Dam
The nyumba ya Mungu reservoir ( " The House of God " ) is a reservoir in Mwanga District in the Kilimanjaro region at the foot of the mountain of the same name in the north of Tanzania. It was completed in 1965 and is situated at an altitude of 670 m. It has a maximum depth of 41 m and an average depth of 6 m.
Use
The lake is used for irrigation and power generation. The performance of the hydropower plant is 8 MW. Furthermore, it is important for the local fishing and is considered a safe haven to many water birds.
Hydrology
The reservoir is fed by the Ruvu and the Kikuletwa, drain the Kilimanjaro or Mount Meru. Its outlet is the Pangani. The lake has eingebüst in recent years strongly surface.
