NZ Transport Agency

The New Zealand Transport Agency ( NZTA ), ( Māori: Waka Kotahi ), is a state-owned company in New Zealand, based in Wellington. The company, which was established on 1 August 2008 by the merger of Land Transport New Zealand and Transit New Zealand as a Crown Entity and the Ministry of Transport report directly operates on the market, however, under the name NZ Transport Agency.

Tasks

The acquisition of tasks resulted from the merger of two predecessor companies:

  • Ensure access and support for the land transport system (all land-based transport routes )
  • Planning of land-based transport network
  • Investments in land-based transportation system
  • Management for the network of State Highways
