Nzema people

The Nzema are a people in Ghana and the Ivory Coast, which are also called Apolo, Appolo, Ndenye, Nzema and Nzima.

This people mainly live in the southwest of Ghana and to behind the border to Ivory Coast. In Ghana, lives with about 273,000 Nzema the majority of the ethnic group in the Western Region. In Ivory Coast, approximately 88,000 Nzema live near the border with Ghana.

After the people of Nzema the Nzema East District was named to the Western Region of Ghana. Their language, Nzema has the status of a national language.
