O Kuk-ryol

O kung Nyol (* 1931 Jilin, China) is a North Korean military and politicians.

O kung Nyol studied at the Academy Mangyongdae Revolution as one of the first students and at the Kim Il-sung University in Pyongyang and the Frunze Naval Academy in Leningrad ( Soviet Union).

He is the son of O Jung -song, who fought in the last years of World War II on the side of the later North Korean dictator Kim Il-sung for a Chōsens independence from Japan. Even as a small child learned kung- O Nyol the son of Kim Il-sung and 2011 deceased leader Kim Jong- il to know why he is regarded as the close confidant.

O kung Nyol participated as a lieutenant in the Korean War ( 1950-1953 ). His subsequent military career began in O as a major general and rector of the North Korean Air Force Academy. In 1967 he was appointed lieutenant general and commander of Air Force. In 1970 he became a member of the Supreme People's Assembly, 1977 Vice Chief of Staff of the Korean People's Army.

O kung nyŏls rise to the top leadership of the North Korean dictatorship was completed in 1979 when he became Chief of Staff of the Army. Disagreements with the then Defence Minister O Jin- u, however, forced him to temporarily retreat from the military elite. In 1980 he was appointed Colonel-General and member of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea. In 1985 he was promoted to General. 1988 had O kung Nyol give all party posts, but returned a year later as Chairman of the Defence Committee and Chief Strategy Officer of the party on the political scene back. He is now vice chairman of the National Defense Commission and is an expert for relations with South Korea.

O kung Nyol is married and has five daughters and a son. He is fluent in Korean and English, Russian and Chinese.
