O-ring chain

An O -ring chain is a roller chain to transmit power in harsh environments. Chain is characterized in that between the outer link plates and inner link plates are fitted O-rings to prevent the ingress of dirt between said chain elements, and enables a permanent lubrication of the moving parts. An O -ring chain is now often used in motorcycles than rear wheel drive. But it can also be used for machines drives, in which the use of a closed chain case is unfavorable.

The "O " refers to the cross-sectional shape of the seal rings to protect the lubrication in the inside of the chain links. An even more effective protection than O- rings (2 sealing points) provide X - rings (4 sealing points ) or W - rings (5 sealing points).
