O. P. Nayyar

Omkar Prasad Nayyar (known as OP Nayyar, also Onkar Prasad Nayyar, Hindi: ओंकार प्रसाद नैय्यर, Onkar Prasad Naiyyar; born January 16, 1926 in Lahore, † January 28, 2007 in Thane, Maharashtra ) was an Indian film music composer who primarily for was the Hindi film worked.

Career

OP Nayyar started his career as a film music writer in 1949 for the film Kaneez. His first big success was Aar Couple ( 1954) by Guru Dutt, with whom he later worked several times, including for Mr. & Mrs. '55 and CID. He particularly frequently wrote songs for Geeta Dutt, Asha Bhosle and Mohammed Rafi, whose careers he drove forward with it. It is also noteworthy that he never worked with Lata Mangeshkar, the most successful Indian playback singer.

Nayyar specialty was rhythmic pieces. Among the best known in India is 50 years after its creation yeh desh hai veer the song jawanon BR Chopra's film Naya Daur of (1957 ) with Dilip Kumar and Ajit. For his music to this film in 1957, he received a Filmfare Award.

After he had separated from Mohammed Rafi, Mahendra Kapoor was his favorite singer. 1974 also ended his collaboration with Asha Bhosle and Nayyars career suffered, he produced despite a comeback attempt in the 90 years after that no important film scores more.

Nayyar was stubborn and to have been individualistic in the call. He died of a heart attack. With his family, wife and four children, he was in dispute and lived separated from them; they were not present at his funeral.
