O.A.R.

O.A.R. (aka Of a Revolution ) is an American rock band that emerged from a college band at Ohio State University. Stylistically plays O.A.R. a mix of rock and reggae.

Band History

Founded in 1996 at the Ohio State University, is the band OAR today from Marc Roberge (vocals / rhythm guitar), Richard On ( first guitar ), Jerry DePizzo (saxophone), Benj Gershman (bass) and Chris Culos (drums). Roberge and Culos have known each other from their childhood in Rockville, where the two later on and Gershman met and played with local bands. DePizzo learned the four only at the Ohio State University to know. Your first two demo songs sold the musicians on campus and built themselves as a fan base through word of mouth.

The first title, which was written in 1997, was The Wanderer. In the same year was the eponymous album. The next track written Roberge and Culos during their stay in Israel.

Two years later, until then relatively unknown band students scored a hit, which helped them to achieve great success. That Was a Crazy Game of Poker ( many lyrics are influenced by Roberges love of literature and especially to Stephen King's novel The Stand ).

In 1999, the band returned to the studio and then a short time later published the five musicians the new demo Souls Aflame. Followed in 2001 and 2002, the Risen Album Live Tour Any Time Now. Then toured O.A.R. until in 2005 for new recordings again retreated with the album In Between Now and Then by America to the studio. After a long time then the album Stories of a Stranger was published in autumn 2005. The ninth album, " All Sides " has been released on 15 July 2008 in the United States.
