Oak Creek is a location on the western shore of Lake Michigan City in Milwaukee County in the southeast of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. In 2000, the city that is part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area, 28 456 inhabitants. By 2009, the population increased to 33 959.
Oak Creek, originally partly lived by farming, in 1955 a town. In the Gazette of Wisconsin was the decision number 66.0215 (also known as " Oak Creek Law") the location of the status of " City " award.
Geography
Oak Creek extends over 73.2 km ² at the mouth of the River Oak Creek into Lake Michigan.
In the city the State Highways 32, 38 and 100 meet together. On the western edge of Oak Creek Interstate 94 runs from Milwaukee to Chicago. Through the city also extend several train lines that run from Milwaukee to the south.
Oak Creek is located 11 km south of General Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee.
In addition to the 19.3 km northern Milwaukee the nearest larger cities Waukesha (44,7 km to the northwest ), Franklin ( 14.7 km to the west ) and Racine (20,2 km to the south).
Economy
The airline Midwest Airlines had formerly based in Oak Creek. In January 2010, Republic Airways Holdings, announced the parent company of Midwest Airlines that the headquarters including the management of Midwest Airlines is relocated to Indianapolis.
The mining equipment manufacturer Bucyrus International announced in June 2010 that the headquarters of the company is moving from the former headquarters in South Milwaukee in the former building of Midwest Airlines.
In Oak Creek, one fueled with coal and natural gas thermal power plant.
Demography
At the time of the census of 2000, there were 28 456 persons Oak Creek. The population density was 383.9 people per km ². There were 11,897 housing units at an average 160.5 per km ². The population of Oak Creek consisted of 91.96 % White, 1.82 % African American, 0.59 % Native American, 2.39 % Asian, 1.70% Pacific Islander, 0 % said other races and 1.53 % from two or more races. 4.45 % of the population to be Hispanic or Latino of any race.
The residents of Oak Creeks distributed to 11,239 households out of which 33.3 % were living in children under 18 years. 56.4 % married couples living together, 7.1 % had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.0 % were non-families. 25.3% of households were made up of individuals and someone lived in 7.0 % of all households aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.52 and the average family size is 3.10 people.
The population was spread out with 25.0 % under the, 9.3 % 18 -24- year-old, 35.4 % 25 -44- year-old, 21.5% 45-64 year olds and 8.9 % under the age of 65 years or more. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 99.3 males. In the over -18s accounted for 100 women, 97.9 men.

The average income of men was 43 935 U.S. dollars, compared to the U.S. dollar at the women.
