Oaktree Capital Management

Oaktree Capital Management, L.P. (OCM ) is a global U.S. investment company in the legal form of a limited partnership (LP). The head of Oaktree is in Los Angeles, has offices in New York, London and Hong Kong offices also in Amsterdam, Stamford, Frankfurt, Luxembourg, Paris, Beijing, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore and Tokyo.

OCM currently managed (as of 30 September 2008) an investment capital of 82 billion U.S. dollars, of which 38 per cent of companies and 29 percent in mutual funds are invested. Since the company re-invested in other funds, it belongs to the group of funds of funds, including the world's largest. OCM is also classified as hedge funds due to its stressed risk investment strategy. The investment strategy is, specializing in " distressed " securities (currently 14.811 billion U.S. dollars) and high-risk bonds ( high- yield bonds ).

OCM was founded in April 1995 by Howard Marks, Bruce Karsh, Steve Kaplan, Larry Keele, Richard Masson and Sheldon Stone, who had worked together since the 1980s. The company today ( end of 2009), around 600 employees.

  • Beluga Shipping (heavy -Reederei ), insolvency after 2011 partly transferred to the newly founded Oaktree heavy -Reederei Hansa Heavy Lift

  • Ströer Media International ( German outdoor advertising company, a subsidiary of Ströer Out- of-Home Media ): since 2007
