Oba of Benin

The ruler of the kingdom of Benin were called " Oba " and reigned from 1200 AD, the Kingdom of Benin in Nigeria today. From the 15th to the 19th century, this was one of the mightiest empire in West Africa. The original rulers of the present city of Benin ruled between 800 and 1200 little more than the city and a few dependent villages.
