Oberflachs

Oberflachs (Swiss German: ɔbəɾ ˌ flɑgs ) was until December 31, 2013, municipality in the district of Brugg in the canton of Aargau. It is located about six kilometers south-west of the district municipal seat. On 1 January 2014 merged Oberflachs with the former rural community Schinznach village to the new community Schinznach.

Geography

The village lies in Schenkenbergertal which extends in an east-west direction of the Aare near Schinznach- village to Staffelegg. This valley is bounded by two steep ridges of the Jura Mountains. In the south, the municipality extends to the ridge of the Gislifluh at an altitude of 770 meters in the north to just below the summit of the reason (up to a height of 665 meters ). On the southern slope of the ground and the Kasteln castle there are vineyards.

The area of the municipality is 338 hectares, of which 127 hectares are forested and built over 30 hectares. The highest point is 770 meters on the ridge of Gisifluh, the deepest at 395 meters on the eastern boundary of the municipality.

Neighboring communities were to 31 December 2013 Schinznach village in the north, Veltheim in the east, the south and Auenstein Thalheim in the West. Oberflachs is almost " grown together " with Schinznach village.

History

The first mention of Obernflacht place in the year 1301. The village name comes from the Old High German (ze dero ) obarun flahidu and means " at the upper flat spot " .. Attractions
