Geography

Geographical Location

The community is located about seven kilometers northwest of Bamberg. The highest elevations are in the west of Spitzelberg with 325 m and in the east of Semberg with 393 m. The location in the Main valley in the area of the nature park Haßberge is ideal for walkers and cyclists. The community part Unterhaid is the lowest town in the district of Bamberg with 230 m asl

Neighboring communities

Oberhaid borders the municipalities of Lauter, Bischenberg, Viereth -Trunstadt, the unincorporated area Semberg as well as the urban areas of construction demand, and City Hall Bamberg. For the district Haßberge ( Lower Franconia ) include the Parish Stettfeld and the city Eltmann.

History

The monastery of Fulda was already in the eighth century property in the municipality. The monastery Michel Berg built since the 13th century from his lordship in Oberhaid. Thus the place was part of the territory of the Bishopric of Bamberg, ecclesiastical but until 1810 the diocese of Würzburg and remained tenth this subject. During the Thirty Years' War Oberhaid was almost completely destroyed but then rebuilt. Oberhaid and the church today Unterhaid parts and relay Bach came to the Imperial Diet of 1803 to Bavaria. The communities Oberhaid, Unterhaid and Staffelbach originated with the community Edict of 1818. The connection to the railway network on February 1, 1852.

Mayor since 2008 Carsten Joneitis (SPD). He sat down at the 2008 election against the then incumbent Harald Krug (CSU), with 53.4 % of the vote by 2014 and was re-elected unopposed with 95.16 % of votes.

Blazon: " In red with a silver flight from growing, silvery bekleidetem arm up holding a golden cross beams; bottom right of a floating silver scutellum, is a continuous black cross. " The flight with cross arm and goes back to the monastery Michel mountain in Bamberg, the silver plate on the monastery of Fulda.

  • The station is located on the railway line Oberhaid Bamberg and Würzburg.
  • Public transport (PT ) is a bus service on the route Bamberg -Schweinfurt with bus stops in Oberhaid, Unterhaid and Staffelbach.

Breweries

In the town there are two breweries that produce their own beer in brewery, the Wagner Brewery in Oberhaid and Hertlein brewery in Staffelbach. The Gambrinusbräu in Unterhaid allowing the beer brewing process in wage brew.
