Oberhausen an der Appel

Oberhausen at the Appel is a municipality in the Thunder Mountain district in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Alsenz - Obermoschel, which has its headquarters in the town of Alsenz.

Geography

Oberhausen is located in Appelbachtal north of the Palatinate Forest. To the north is Münsterappel, in the east and south is Gaugrehweiler war field. The nearest towns are Bad Kreuznach, Rockhausen and Kaiserslautern.

History

In a document of Otto the Great on June 4, 940 Oberhausen was first mentioned. In the Thirty Years' War Oberhausen lost all residents. Only in the second half of the 17th century came new life into the community. In 1830 and 1910 Oberhausen quarries had boom. Many sandstone facades in the region date from this period, including the bridge over the creek Appel.

The local council in Oberhausen is composed of six council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Economy and infrastructure

In the resort, the L 400 and L 399 crossing over the A63 to the east and the A61 in north-east is connected to the long-distance transport. Nearest train stop is the Alsenz station on the Alsenztalbahn.
