Oberhofen Castle

The Oberhofen Castle is a castle in the municipality Oberhofen in Canton Bern, Switzerland.

It once belonged to Walter IV von Eschenbach, who along with other conspirators murdered King Albrecht of Habsburg 1308. The keep dates from the 12th century, the palace with a chapel from the 15th century. In the 14th century the castle came to the Habsburgs, and was occupied after the battle of Sempach of Bernese troops. The castle and the associated rule first went over to the family of Scharnachthal and then to other Bernese patrician families.
