Oberlangenegg

Oberlangenegg is a municipality in the administrative district of Thun in the canton of Bern in Switzerland.

Geography

The municipality is located on a plateau surrounded by hills and is heavily wooded. Largest settlement Way of the Cross ( Chrüzweg 921 m above sea level ). Otherwise there is no hamlet, but only groups of houses and farmsteads. Of the total area of 915 ha community 49.1% of woods and forests covered 45.6 % of agricultural land and only 4.5% settlement area.

Oberlangenegg bordered to the west by Unterlangenegg, on the north by Wachseldorn, on the northeast by Röthenbach im Emmental and on the south by Eriz and Teuffenthal.

Population

Beginning of 2005, the municipality had 479 inhabitants.

Languages

The people speak in everyday life, a high Alemannic dialect, which belongs to the German dialects of Bern. At the last census in 2000 gave 97.93 % German, 1.04 % and 0.62 % Albanian French as a primary language.

Religions - faiths

In earlier times the entire population belonged to the Evangelical Reformed Church. Due to immigration from other regions in Switzerland and abroad, and by leaving the church, this has changed. Today ( as of 2000) are 91.91 % Evangelical Protestant and Roman Catholic Christians 1.24%. In addition, there are 2.90% and 2.07% non-religious Muslims. 1.87% refusing to participate creed.

Origin - Nationality

Beginning of 2005 were by the inhabitants 472 ( = 98.54 %), Swiss nationals and seven immigrant people from other countries. At the last census in 2000 were 96.68 % Swiss citizens, including was a person with dual nationality. The few immigrants are mostly Albanians from Kosovo and Macedonia.

Mayor is Ueli Jaberg (2009).

The voting shares of the parties at the national elections of 2011 were: SVP 70.8 %, BDP 7.1 %, SP 4.6 %, EDU 4.4 %, 3.8 % GPS, EPP 3.0 %, 2.1 % glp, FDP 0.8 %, CVP 0.7 %.

Sports

The EHC Oberlangenegg is the Hockey Club of the community and environment. For years, the team's first 2 to 3 league was up and back dismount. But in the 2005/06 season, the team was able to assert itself in the 2nd league and reached the play- offs the quarterfinals. The second team was able to consolidate in the 3rd Liga in the 2005/06 season.

Traffic

The community is connected through the bus line 42, the STI Thun- Schwarzenegg - Heimenschwand to the network of public transport. The village lies on the Schallenbergstrasse from Thun to Wolhusen -Lucerne.
