Oberndorf, Lower Saxony

Oberndorf is a municipality on the Oste in the Samtgemeinde On Dobrock in the district of Cuxhaven, in Lower Saxony. To the left of the main town located Oste Oberndorf also include the location of the right Oste Bentwisch.

Community structure

The municipality of Oberndorf is a resort and is on one side of the Oste from the districts of Oberndorf, Laak, Braak, Ahrens escape and Ahrens Fluchter Moor. On the other side of the Oste are the vilage Bentwisch, customs tree, rabbits Fleet, low line, low hustler dyke Moordeich, Moorstrich and Black Moor.

History

1316 Upper village was mentioned in documents as Overdorpe the first time. Probably found the embankment on the river Elbe and Oste held since the mid 12th century and settlements were established. Was first documented in 1379, the St. George church near the Ostedeich. The still existing low tower and the first church was probably built around 1300. 1653 the present church was created in the place of the Gothic previous building. The high spire was 1717.

The settlers in the marshes were free peasants who chose their judges and jurors country itself. From 1502 to 1511 Oberndorf joined with the parish Geversdorf an alliance with the country Kehdingen. The Lords of Brobergen had in Oberndorf citizenship court consisting of mayors, aldermen and council men. After the settlement of craftsmen, merchants and sailors Oberdorf was a patch in the 17th century. The clay mining in the river march led in the 19th century to build the brick industry.

The communities Bülkau and Oberndorf joined with effect from 1 January 1970, the Samtgemeinde On Dobrock. Since 1977, the river crossing over a bridge is possible, which replaced the old ferry. 2010 Oberndorf was again included in the program for village renewal.

Spin-offs

On January 1, 1972, a field with at that time about 50 inhabitants was transferred to the neighboring community Hemmoor.

Structures

Was first documented in 1379, the St. George church near the Ostedeich. The former Gothic church and the still existing low tower were probably established as early as 1300.

1653 was built with arched windows and massive buttresses as templates wall of bricks the existing nave church today. The high pyramid helmet from the tower dates from 1717.

Inside: The nave is vaulted with wooden segmental arch tons. The gallery is revolving. The towering pulpit altar dates from 1663 according to an inscription by Jürgen Heitmann the Younger ( 1627-1671 ). It is rich decorated with reliefs, statues and cartilage style elements. The pulpit is also of Heitmann, but was inserted into the sanctuary building until the beginning of the 18th century. The three-legged bronze font is probably from the 13th century. The baptismal ( 1660 ) and the crucifixion group from 1663 are Heitmann. The altar candlestick dating from 1591 and 1601. The obtained organ of 1879 was crafted by Johann Hinrich Röver. By 1830, still Burials took place in the crypts below the church and under the tower. The grave slab which to Brobergen are on the outside, to the left of the entrance.

Traffic

Near the village the main road runs 73, access to transport direction Cuxhaven and Stade and Hamburg offers. In 1977, the ferry was replaced by a bascule bridge.
