Obernhof

Obernhof is a municipality in the Rhein- Lahn-Kreis in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Nassau. Obernhof is a nationally recognized tourist.

Geography

Geographical location

Obernhof located amidst the nature park Nassau. Depending on the bank of the Lahn is in the Taunus and the Westerwald.

In Obernhof the Gelbach from the north and the south of Dörsbach in the Lahn flows.

Railway connection is through the Lahn Valley Railway.

Community structure

To Obernhof includes the residential places Shed, Langenau and Miedziankit.

Parish council

The local council in Obernhof consists of eight council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 of personalized proportional representation, and the honorary mayor as chairman. The eight seats on the council are divided into two groups of voters. In the previous election in 2004 the council members were elected by majority vote.

Viniculture

Obernhof is one of the few remaining wine-growing communities on the river Lahn and is therefore a special dar. Obernhof part of the Middle Rhine wine region. There are grown Pinot Noir and Riesling wines on the upper Hofer Goethe mountain.

Personalities

Haxel Ernst (1938-2008), from the media known as a singing winemakers of the Lahn and former Winzerverein Chairman.
