Geography

Oberostendorf lies in the Allgäu region.

There are the following districts: Gutenberg, Lengenfeld, Oberostendorf, lower east village.

History

The church was first mentioned as 890 Ostrindorf documented and thus belongs alongside Waal of the oldest towns in the area. In today's municipal area, the Bishopric of Augsburg shared the rule with the free imperial city of Kaufbeuren and the men of Hörmann and Gutenberg. With the Imperial Diet of 1803 the city became part of Bavaria.

Incorporations

On 1 July 1972, the until then independent municipality under the East Village was incorporated. On May 1, 1978 Gutenberg and Lengenfeld were added.

Worth seeing is the former Pilgrimage Church of the Assumption is ( Oberostendorf ) from the 15th century. In the parish church of St Margaret Berger Good is a crypt of Kaufbeurer patrician family Hörmann, 1543-1803 lord of Gutenberg.
