The Journal of Upper Austrian News is a national subscription daily newspaper based in Linz.

History

The newspaper was founded on 11 June 1945 by the American occupation forces, but was already four months later, independently on 8 October 1945. From six shareholders of the later National President Alfred Maleta emerged as the sole owner. On 1 January 1954, the newspaper merged with the appearing since 1865 daily mail. Held at the company now formed the descendants of the former Linzer printer family Wimmer 74% ( it was previously the daily mail out ), Alfred Maleta held 26%, however, which he sold in 1986. After that led Rudolf Andreas Cuturi, a descendant of the company founder Josef Wimmer, the newspaper as editor.
