Community Oberstocken

Oberstocken was until December 31, 2013 municipality in the administrative district of Thun in the canton of Bern in Switzerland. On 1 January 2014 merged Oberstocken with the former municipalities of courts in Thun and Niederstocken merged to a halt - yards.

Geography

Oberstocken located in the Bernese Oberland in the Alps in Stockental. The neighboring communities of North Clockwise starting at were up on December 31, 2013 yards, Niederstocken, Erlenbach im Simmental, Därstetten and Pohlern.

Mayor of the municipality is Markus Leuenberger (2009).

The voting shares of the parties at the national elections of 2011 were: SVP 51.7 %, 9.5 % BDP, EDU 7.8 %, 7.4 % glp, SP 7.0 %, FDP 5.0 %, GPS, 4.3%, 2.4 % CVP, EPP 2.1 %, 1.1 parteifrei.ch %.

History

The name Oberstocken goes back to the Old High German word stoc species ( tree trunk, tree trunk ). In place and field names as land clearing, respectively. The qualifier used to distinguish the upper Niederstocken same name. The first historical mention, in 1309, when the speech is " from the castle ze halt ".
