Oberthal, Saarland
Oberthal is a municipality in the district of Saarland St. Wendel and is located about 35 km northeast of Saarbrücken.
The Bostalsee is a few kilometers from Oberthal.

Geography
With the high moorland Oberthaler fraction has the wooded community since December 1984 one of the largest nature reserves in the Saarland. Since November 1983 is in the neighboring municipality in the district of Namborn Namborn the nature reserve " pond fraction and Rohrbach meadows " with a size of 19.68 acres, extends also to the parts of the community Oberthal ( district Güdesweiler ). Also, the water protection area " Rohrbacher meadows " of the neighboring community Namborn impact on the territory of the municipality Oberthal ( district Güdesweiler ).
Through the town flows the assemblies, one of its sources is located in the district Orletal Gronig. Therefore, a part of the community Oberthal is affected by a regulation on the protection of the floodplain at the assemblies.
The entire municipality Oberthal is in the nature park Saar -Hunsrück.

The small wild woman cave, the local museum Millpetersch - house and the chapel the remains of a Celtic ring wall on Momberg in the district Gronig, a mineral archaeological site ( red chalk ) on Leißberg as well as components of the non-local sculptures street shall be considered as worth seeing with good wells in the district Güdesweiler.

Regular events
Every year on the first weekend in May is the International Oberthaler pottery and ceramics market place in the center of Oberthal.
Sports
The men's team of the cones friends Oberthal eV is a German record champions in the First Bundesliga. The ladies have won the title more than once.
