Geography

Adjacent communities are Remse, Schoenberg and the town of Waldenburg in the district of Zwickau and Nobitz and brick home in the Thuringian district Altenburger Land.

Community structure

The municipality consists of the villages Harthau, Neukirchen, Niederwiera, Oberwiera, Röhrsdorf and Wickersdorf. About half of the residents of the community live in the main town Oberwiera.

The shortest road (the town exit to Ortsteingang ) between the various districts is usually only a few hundred meters. An exception to this is the only route Oberwiera - Neukirchen, this being due to the road layout. The straight line is much shorter.

Wooden houses

The so-called " wooden houses " are listed as the district on many maps, which is incorrect. The wooden houses are a series of shorter side streets of Waldburger street and include the southernmost part of Oberwiera.

In this direction ( seen from the town center ), followed by the district Wickersdorf. Where there is a structural gap of about 200 meters (straight line) between the wooden houses and Wickersdorf.

History

The documentary first mention dates back to the year 1254. Thus Oberwiera is as old as the neighboring town of Waldenburg.
