Object Request Broker

Object Request Broker ( ORB) referred to in the information technology an intermediary, the communication of objects within a distributed system such as the Internet, enables, and that both operating system as well as programming language independent.

The tasks of the Object Request Brokers consist, inter alia, to send or receive data. Since data objects on the source and target system because of the byte order may have different representation, marshaling provides for the conversion into a distinct transmission format. Via an interface, it is servers and clients also possible mutually retrieve information and to start actions on the respective computers.

The Object Management Group ( OMG) is trying to achieve under the name of a standardization of CORBA Object Request Broker.

As a mathematical description of the ORB exists at least an axiomatic definition ( 4 axioms ).
