Observatory Naef Ependes

The observatory Ependes is a school and public observatory in the western Swiss city of Fribourg. It is situated at 700 m above sea level and is supported by the charitable foundation Robert A. Naef. The daily affairs leads the local Astro club girlfriends and friends of the Observatory Ependes.

The observatory hide it under his 4- m dome and has an antique refractor in the adjacent flat building a small seminar and side rooms. Under the sunroof there are two mirror telescopes: a Celestron 14 and a hypergraph (50cm ). Next to it is a coelostat, which sends the sunlight in the basement. The observatory is open every Friday night free for the public. The schools in the Canton of Fribourg have special visiting hours, Holiday Passport owners and groups can reserve the observatory on Wednesday or Saturday night. Nearby is also a Planet was created.
