Obstalden

Fruit Alden is a former municipality in the canton of Glarus in Switzerland.

The village was merged as part of the Glarus municipality reform on 1 January 2011 with the communities Bilten, Filzbach, Mollis, mill Horn, Naefels, Lower and Upper urns urns for the new municipality of Glarus Nord.

Geography

The center of the municipality is 685 m above sea fruit Alden. M. on a terrace of Kerenzerberg high above Lake Walen. The municipality consists of five hamlets: Hüttenberge, Walenguflen, Nidstalden, Vogl rings and Mühletal. On the territory of the municipality lies the Mürtschenstock belonging to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Glarus overthrust.

Alden fruit forms, together with the communities mill horn and the Filzbach Kerenzerberg region.

History

The first mention of fruit Alden comes from the year 1340 in the land register of the monastery Säkingen.

As a reformed pastor in fruit Alden worked from 1916 to 1924 who later became professor of theology Emil Brunner.
