Obyčtov

Obyčtov ( German Obicztau, also Obicztow, Obitschdorf ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located eight kilometers south-east of Zdar nad Sázavou and belongs to Okres Zdar nad Sázavou.

Geography

Obyčtov is located in the Valley of the Oslava in the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands. Northeast of the Na Kopci ( 589 m) and the Skály rise ( 629 m ) in the west of Kopec ( 569 m), on which a 30 m high transmission tower was built. Southeast of the village of Velky pond Paralikův is rybnik. In the West, the state road I/37 result of Zdar nad Sázavou after Křižanov and the railway line Havlíčkův Brod - Tišnov past, the station Ostrov nad Oslavou is located 700 m southwest of Obyčtov on the other side of the Oslava.

Neighboring towns are Jámy in the north, Hlinné in the northeast, Hodíškov in the east, Křiby, Bohdalec and Polák in the southeast, Rychtářův Mlýn, Frelichův Mlýn and Suky in the south, Ostrov nad Oslavou and Kotlasy the southwest, Březí nad Oslavou in the west and Sazomín and Vatin in northwest.

History

The first written mention of Ubči took place in 1341 during a dispute over the parish tithe. Ubči was among the possessions of the Cistercian monastery Saar, which maintained a court here. Moreover, in the place was a branch of the Teutonic Order. In the 15th century the village was known as Ubyčtov. The oldest town seal is from 1667. Since 1672 was in Obyčtov a church.

After the abolition of patrimonial Običtov formed in 1850 a municipality in the administrative district of Nove Mesto. In 1869 the community had 422 inhabitants. 1888, founded the volunteer fire department Običtov. Since the end of the 19th century, the church bears the name Obyčtov. 1911 took a mill with a sawmill and starch factory on the operation. The following year, a cooperative distillery was established. 1930 391 people lived in the village. Since 1949, the community is part of the Okres Zdar nad Sázavou. Since 1998, the municipality performs a coat of arms and banners. The town today consists of 140 homes.

Obyčtov today vicarage for Sazomín, Vatin, Hodíškov and Suky. Every year there are birth pilgrimages to the Visitation and Mary.

Attractions

  • Baroque Church of the Visitation, built in 1730-1735 under the Abbot Václav Vejmluva to plans by Johann Blasius Santini Aichl instead of an earlier building of 1672. The plan of the church resembles a turtle that can also be found in the local coat of arms. After the fire, the Sanctuary Zelena Hora in 1784, the baroque pulpit, the side altar and stone paving from the Obyčtover church after Zelena Hora were spent.
