Occupational Safety and Health Act

The Occupational Safety and Health Act ( OSH Act ) is a federal law in the United States, which was signed by President Richard Nixon on December 29, 1970. The law shall determine the rules for most companies, health and safety regulations. The law should ensure that workers operate in environments that pose no risks to their health and integrity.

To enforce the Act, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA ) was established, which reports to the Federal Ministry of Labour. For the investigation of working conditions, the law also the creation of a National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH ) and the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission ( OSHRC ) certain for trial of offenses against the law.
