Ocean City is a town in Worcester County in the U.S. state of Maryland. It lies at the southern end of a 16 km-long island that separates the Atlantic Ocean from the mainland. Town and island are nationally known for their tourist attractions.
Ocean City has 7,173 inhabitants ( 2000) with a land area of 11.8 km ² and a water area of 82.4 km ².
Attractions
- Ocean City offers a wealth of water sports: Deep-sea fishing ( marlin, tuna ), surfing, sailing, water skiing and parasailing.
- There are two major theme parks with roller coasters and a carousel from 1902.
- " Frontier Town", a western theme park is located 6 km south.
- This " Life Saving Station Museum ", at the south end of the boardwalk, shows the story of the rescue station and island.
