Oceana County is a county located in the U.S. state of Michigan. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is hard.

Geography

The County is located in the east of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, adjacent to Lake Michigan, one of the five Great Lakes, and has an area of ​​3384 square kilometers, of which 1985 square miles are water. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Mason County, Newaygo County and Muskegon County.

History

Oceana County was formed in 1831 from parts of Mackinac County. It was named after Lake Michigan on the basis of its size (ocean).
