Oceanside is a city in San Diego County in the U.S. state of California, with 183 095 inhabitants (as of 2010 census ). The metropolitan area has a size of 107.7 square kilometers. Oceanside is located about 55 kilometers north of San Diego and 130 miles south of Los Angeles off Interstate 5 and California State Route 76

From the south-east neighboring city of Carlsbad Oceanside is separated mainly by the Buena Vista Lagoon.

For local area also includes the Mount Ecclesia, where is located the headquarters of the Rosicrucian Fellowship founded by Max Heindel. The city is also the birthplace of Heath Bell, a baseball player.

The Pier of Oceanside is traditionally the starting point of the Race Across America, a bicycle race across the United States.

Since 2000, the triathlon competition Ironman 70.3 California is on the California coast in Oceanside annually held in March.
