Ocellated turkey (Meleagris ocellata )

The ocellated turkey (Meleagris ocellata ) is next to the actual turkey the only other type of turkeys (Meleagris ). It is widely used in the north of Central America.

Features

Pfauentruthähne reach a weight of 3.25 to 4 kg and are 71-92 cm high and 90-100 cm long. The hens are only 1,9-2 kg and 65-69 cm high. The plumage of the Pfauentruthuhns has shiny on the red, green, blue and violet colors. The neck and head are featherless and light blue. Red are the eye region and the skin flap hanging over the beak of the rooster.

Dissemination

Are widespread Pfauentruthühner exclusively on the Yucatán Peninsula. They occur on the territories of the states of Mexico, Guatemala and Belize. Habitat is the tropical rainforest, in search of food but are clear areas near ideal.
