Ocna MureÈ™

Ocna Mureş (formerly Uioara, lat Salinae, Marosújvár Hungarian, German Mures Hall ) is a town in Alba county in Transylvania, Romania. Its population was 15,526 inhabitants in 2002.

Near the town there is a large salt deposits which were exploited until the 1980s. When the tunnels were flooded with water collapsed the overlying layer and destroyed large parts of downtown. Ocna Mureş has from the time of dismantling a factory for chlorosodische products as well as a spa, which flooded the mines uses as a source.
