Ocoee is a city in Orange County in the U.S. state of Florida with 35,579 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

The city is bordered to the west directly to the City of Winter Garden and is located approximately 10 kilometers west of Orlando.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 35,579 inhabitants distributed to 12,802 households. The population density was 933.8 inh. / Km ². 66.8 % of the population were white, 17.5 % African American, 0.4% Native American and 5.5 % Asian Americans. 6.4% were members of other ethnic groups and 3.4% in different ethnic groups. 20.8% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 18.3 % of all households lived in 45.2 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 78.3 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.99 and the average family size is 3.33 people.

30.3% of the population were younger than 20 years, 27.0% were 20-39 years old, 29.8 % were 40-59 years old and 12.8 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 35 years. 48.8 % of the population were male and 51.2 % female.

The average annual income was $ 61,653, while 9.7 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 84.06 % of the population spoke Spanish 13.87% and 2.07% had a different mother tongue.
