The Oconee County is a county located in the state of Georgia in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Watkinsville.

Geography

The County is located in north-central Georgia has an area of ​​482 square kilometers, of which a square kilometers of water, and bordered clockwise to the following counties: Clarke County, Oglethorpe County, Greene County, Morgan County, Walton County and Barrow County.

History

Oconee County was formed as the 135th county in Georgia from parts of Clarke County on February 25, 1875. It was named after the Oconee River.
