Ocurí Municipality

The municipality Ocurí is a district in the Potosí Department in the South American Andes State of Bolivia.

Location in near space

The municipality Ocurí is one of four Municipalities in the province Chayanta. It is bordered to the north and west by the municipality of Colquechaca, on the southwest by the province of Tomás Frías, in the southeast of the province of Cornelio Saavedra, and on the east by the municipality of Ravelo. It extends about 65 km from north to south and about 35 km in east-west direction.

The central location of the municipality is the village with 1,408 inhabitants Ocurí (2001) in the center of the district.

Geography

The municipality Ocurí lies between the Bolivian Altiplano in the west and the Andes mountain range of the Cordillera Central in the east. The region is characterized by a pronounced diurnal climate where the temperatures between day and night fluctuate more than in the average year.
