Odsherred

Odsherred means an area, and ( since 1 January 2007 ) is a large village in the northwest of the Danish Zealand. The two Sejerø and Nekselø also belong to Odsherred. In the large village Odsherred the former municipalities drag spar, Nykøbing - Rørvig and Trundholm have been merged. The municipal area is 355 km ², its population (2006 pro forma) 32,890. The municipality is part of the Sjælland region.

Only in the middle of the 18th century began with comprehensive mitigation work on land reclamation. In the area around the Lammefjord large tracts of land have been drained and are now successfully used for agriculture.

The first demonstrable traces of human life in Odsherred 9000 years old. Especially in the last hundred years, numerous finds from the early days were made, including a sun chariot and tumuli, which can be found in the highest density on Sejerø.
