Odzun Church

The Cathedral of Odsun is an Armenian Apostolic church in the village Odsun in the province of Lori. The basilica was built in the 7th century and is expected to fall to the Catholicos Hovhannes Odsnezi, who was 717-728 head of the Armenian Church. Archaeological investigations indicate that the church is older. The central, sixteen square umbrella dome is supported by four freestanding columns. On the north and south sides of the basilica is surrounded by arcades, which pass on the west side in a continuous -designed wall with portal.

North of the cathedral stands on a seven-point socket A monument in the shape of a horseshoe-shaped double sheet of tufa, in each of which a lighter stele is. The meaning of the columns is not known, they are dated to the 5th to 8th century. The only comparable tomb in Armenia remained in Aghitu in the province of Syunik. On the grounds of the Cathedral are also finding many grave stones of the clergy.
