The spider family Oecobiidae comprises 6 genera and 105 species.

Features

Oecobiidae are small to medium sized araneomorphe spiders, with 3 to 15 mm body length. You have three Tarsalklauen and six or eight eyes. There are cribellate and ecribellate genres. All species are entelegyn.

The Prosomaform is almost round and slightly heart-shaped. The opisthosoma is oval to flattened round and partially. The legs are short and are star-shaped from the body.

The six or eight eye are arranged in a compact group in the front part of the Prosomas.

Dissemination

The distribution area of the family are the tropics. However, the genres Oecibus and Uroctea have cosmopolitans or have representatives in the Holarctic. In Central Europe the following species were found:

  • Oecobius maculatus Simon, 1870: Detection in Basel
  • Oecobius NAVUS Blackwall, 1859: Detection in greenhouses in Berlin
  • Oecobius annulipes Lucas, 1846, widespread in the Mediterranean region and commonly found in buildings.
  • Uroctea Durandi ( Latreille, 1809)
