Oedelem

Oedelem is a village in the Belgian province of West Flanders and a part of the congregation of the church Beernem.

History

Oedelem is first mentioned in 906 as Udelhem. In the 10th century the feud here Praet was founded, whose owner, the same family that Flanders should play a major role.

In Oedelem Philipp van Artevelde undertook on May 3, 1382 a successful surprise attack on the followers of Count Louis of painting, which was received as a battle on the Beverhoutsveld in history.
