Oenology

The enology or oenology ( ancient Greek οἶνος oinos, wine ' and -logy ) is a study area of ​​wine production. It deals with the pressing and the expansion (tires) of the wine, the entire circumference of winemaking.

In some countries ( such as France, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Romania and Georgia) enology is a field of study at a university with the degree Diplom-Ingenieur Viticulture and Enology ( today Bachelor or Master).

The knowledge and responsibilities of an oenologist includes the rational application of the learned or drawn from science or technology knowledge, the implementation of technological research, participation in the development of materials for the technology and equipment of wineries; the employees in the facility and the care of vineyards, the assumption of full responsibility for the production of grape juice, wine and derived products from wine and securing their durability, conducting analyzes ( physical, chemical, microbiological and organoleptic ) of the aforementioned products and the interpretation of the analysis data. He has the ability to recognize the existing relations between the economy, wine legislation and oenological technology and the commercialization of products to organize. It is the job of the winemaker to prepare wines of a quality meeting the requirements of the market. His skills are in demand in analytical laboratories in applied research, advisory bodies, in wine-growing companies ( private, cooperative), in trade, in industry or in education. There are many current challenges. They relate to the product, its technological, ecological, economic, cultural and social environment.
