Geography

Geographical location

The municipality is located in the Oerlenbach Vorrhön between Schweinfurt in the south, the west of Bad Kissingen in and Muennerstadt in the north.

History

The first documentary mention (as Ornebach ) took place in 953, but the district Ebenshausen in the year 788 was mentioned. In 1871 the Franconian Saale Valley Railway was built to Bad Kissingen. Today's church was established on 1 January 1972 by the merger of the municipalities Ebenshausen, Eltingshausen, Rottershausen and Oerlenbach.

Religions

The population of the municipality Oerlenbach is mostly Roman Catholic. The Catholic church is a modern building in 1968 and is dedicated to Saint Burkard, the first bishop of Würzburg, consecrated. In Ebenshausen the church is the patronal feast of All Saints ( All Saints). In the district Eltingshausen the baroque parish church is dedicated to Saint Martin.

Coat of arms

Blazon: Under a split of Silver and Blue Shield Main split of red and silver, front a turned-over to the left a silver wolf, behind a red flight.

Coat of Arms History: The church built in 1972 Oerlenbach consists of those referred to in the community structure above the formerly independent communities of which Eltingshausen led his own coat of arms which went down by the merger.
