Ofer Brothers Group

The Ofer Brothers Group, also briefly Ofer Group, is an Israeli group of companies. The activities of the conglomerate extend, inter alia, container shipping, aerospace, automotive, logistics, chemical, energy, media, real estate and other investments.

The group is (usually called Udi Angel) owned by the Ofer family and Ehud Angel. The Ofer family is one of the most active in Israel. Head of the family were the Sammy Ofer brothers and July Ofer (English spelling: Yuli Ofer, eigtl Yehuda). They built in the 1950s, first the shipping company Ofer Brothers, which gradually diversified into other areas of business. Both died in 2011.

The brothers Eyal Ofer and Idan Ofer, the two sons of Sammy Ofer:

Idan Ofer Ofer Group and is a director of various subsidiaries. He has an MBA from the London Business School, which he still financially supports and sits in its European Advisory Board. He is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Harvard Kennedy School and graduated from the University of Haifa. After a few years working in the marine and offshore oil storage industry in Asia and the U.S., he was from 1999 to 2009 Chairman (CEO ) of the Israel Corporation. He controls the Mashat Investments Ltd. , Which holds 80 % of Millenium Investments Elad, which in turn owns 46.9 % stake in Israel Corporation. In addition, Idan Ofer is chairman of the company Better Place. Previously he was also Chairman of United Mizrahi Bank (2005 merged into the Bank Mizrahi - Tefahot ).

Eyal Ofer is chairman of the real estate investment firm Ofer Global Holdings. He graduated from the British Atlantic College in architecture and engineering. As of May 1991, he was Chairman and CEO of the real estate management company Deerbrook. Since 1995 he has been a director of the world's second largest cruise company Royal Caribbean Cruises, where the Ofer Group on the Cruise Associates, a joint venture with the Pritzker family (Hyatt hotel), has a financial interest. He is also Chairman and CEO of real estate firm Carlyle MG, since 1996, also co-chairman of the real estate investment fund Global Miller. He is also a member of the International Advisory Board of the German real estate and public finance bank Euro Hypo (Commerzbank Group).

Udi Angel, ex-husband of daughter Liora Ofer July, is 50% co-owner and Executive Chairman of the Ofer Brothers Group and various subsidiaries. He has a bachelor's degree in Accounting and Economics from the University of Haifa. In 1975 he joined with Ofer Shipping and Managing Director in 1980. He was directly involved in the 1999 takeover of the Israel Corporation by Ofer Brothers and 1999-2003 Chairman of Zim Integrated Shipping Services. Since 1998 he is also Austria's honorary consul for the Districts of Haifa and Northern Israel. He was an active triathlete and served in the Israeli Army as a tank commander. Udi Angel supports various Israeli children's charities such as Variety and Aleh Israel.

Shipping

The subgroup Ofer Shipping Group is the core component of the Ofer Brothers Group. It operates container ships, bulk carriers, multi-purpose cargo ship, car carrier, chemical tankers, reefers and tankers for special products.

Aviation

Ofer Aviation concerned since its foundation in 2005, with leasing and aircraft fleet management. The fleet currently includes the model families Boeing 737 NG and Airbus A320.

Since 1999, the Ofer Brothers Group majority owner of Israel's largest industrial holding company, the Israel Corporation.

Ofer Brother Properties

  • Mizrahi Tefahot: The bank was created in 2005 from the merger of United Mizrahi Bank founded in 1923 (UMB ) with the Tefahot Israel Mortgage Bank, which was the biggest banking merger in Israel. In terms of assets under management in 2010, she was the fourth largest Israeli bank. The largest individual shareholders today are the Ofer Group and Wertheim Feinberg Group ( Moshe Wertheim ).
