Office of Foreign Assets Control

The Office of Foreign Assets Control ( OFAC, German " Office for control of foreign assets ") is the export control authority of the United States Treasury. OFAC is responsible for the monitoring of trade and economic sanctions imposed by the United States for reasons of foreign policy and national have imposed security interests against countries, organizations and individuals.

There are numerous predecessor organizations, the oldest own authority, which preceded the OFAC, was the Division of Foreign Assets Control in the division of the Treasury of the United States ( 1940). Director of OFAC is Adam J. Szubin.
