OGC Nice

The OGC Nice ( complete: Olympique Gymnaste Club de Nice Côte d' Azur ) is a French football club from the city of Nice (French Nice, Occitan Nissa ) in the Alpes - Maritimes. It was founded in 1904 as Gymnaste Club de Nice, and had in 1908 a football department. 1924 merged Le Gym, as the club is still known, with the Gallia Football Athletic Club de Nice and changed his name to OGC. The club colors are black and red In May 2013, the club has adopted a new logo.

The first football team played from 1965 to 2013 at the Stade du Ray, after the move was made to the newly built multi-purpose stadium Allianz Riviera. President is Jean -Pierre rivère. The first team is coached by Claude Puel since July 2012. (August 2013)

League membership

The OGC was the highest division (Division 1 since 2002 Ligue 1) 1932-1934, 1939-1943, 1944/45, (short-term operating under OGC de Nice- Sportsmen ), 1948-1964, 1965-1969, 1970-1982, 1985 -1991 (this year the club was expelled from the League ) from 1994 to 1997 and again since 2003.

Achievements

Are up to win the French Cup in 1997, the descent successes of the club for almost half a century ago:

  • French Champion: 1951, 1952, 1956, 1959
  • French Cup Winners: 1952, 1954, 1997 ( and finalist 1978)
  • European Cups: quarter-finalist in the Champion Clubs' Cup (1957, 1960) and a finalist in the Coupe Latine (1952 )
