The County is located in northern Illinois, about 60 miles from Wisconsin. It has an area of ​​1977 square kilometers, of which eleven square kilometers of water surface. History

The Ogle County was formed on January 16, 1836 from Jo Daviess parts of the County. It was named after Joseph Ogle (1737-1821), a pioneer, politician and captain of the territorial militia.

On January 3, 1837 the first official meeting of the County Administration was held and Oregon was chosen as the county seat. Because of the strong differences with the south of the county split this off on February 27 in 1839 and became the Lee County with Dixon as the seat of county government. In the same year Oregon was renamed in Florence in 1843 but changed back again in Oregon. The courthouse still in use was built in 1891 for around $ 107,000 for buildings and equipment.
